I made perhaps the erroneous decision to study Philosophy. I hate big decisions and loath when they force themselves upon me, so I suppose this is quite apt.

In hindsight an error, as instead of pushing me in a certain direction, it only delayed the question that so often bites at my ankles as I try to run away: “What are you going to do with your life?”.

I am 25 years old. I have postponed real life by 4 hilarious years studying in Dublin, cleaning toilets in the Alps, and saving my shillings for diving in plus 26 degree waters… (fine, I’m a pussy).

After a year in London, I have yet to figure out any particular career path – the goal being to be inspired by work, to be satisfied, and crudely to not work for nothing, because I need to pay my rent (I’m sure this manifest is news to no one).

In an effort to get the ball rolling, this blog notes little ignitions of belly fire, even if they are directly related to Jagermeister… flickers of fun and inspirational things in London and the UK. Any ideas will be gladly welcomed…

Due to my itchy feet and reasonable argument that I was put on this earth for between 25 – 80 years and want to see a lot of it, I will be taking this idea further afield once the pennies are saved. Too many people to meet, cuisines to taste, underwater worlds to discover, languages to learn how to say “cheers” in.

  1. You can never go wrong with Philosophy, Emily. At the very least, it’s a major that will teach you to think critically, which any employer will cherish. Keep experimenting and *living*. You’ll find your way.
And thanks so much for following my own journey.
